I’m having a problem with FIR Creator EX that I can’t figure out. I’m making FIR Filters for my MiniDSP unit before some custom studio monitors I made. When I insert the filter into the MiniDSP software it’s as if I have a low pass filter on. They sound like crossed-over subwoofers. Nothing above like 150 hz. I’m sure I have a filter on somewhere, or I’m exporting the filter wrong…. Something… Can you think of what it is I might have engaged? If you could steer me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.
Without seeing the project, it’s hard to say.
My guess is the exported filter is too short; this is the usual source of LF problems. The “Export” tab shows the ideal filter and the windowed filter for export – here it should be obvious if there is any deviation in the LF response.
Beyond that, maybe the miniDSP has a coefficient limit and is loading the samples from the start of the file, but not all the samples. This could have a similar effect.
For more details on filter length, see Section 5 on
